1058 I am crying now as I write this. UPS dropped this book off @630pm and I finished it the next night. It has been one of the hardest books I've ever read. Short description - a small team treks through Himalayan villages over 7 days and the author, David Platt, shares their encounters with the various village/villagers. I had to take breaks every couple of pages because of how overwhelming the conditions in the Himalayas are to fellow humans. Poverty, hunger, superstitions, lack of medical anything or anyone, and sex trafficking. I cried through each day. Prayed more than I have ever prayed in one day. I'm convicted, encouraged, heartbroken, desperate, nervous, challenged, hopeful and scared. The questions David asks about my heavenly Father are terrifying and a relief. I'm currently struggling with what I'm doing in my own life. Somehow forgetting I've been redeemed. Forgetting I've been redeemed for a purpose. To glorify God. This book could not have come at a better time. God's time. I've spent the last two months depressed. Thinking terrible thoughts. Abandonment. Suffering. And all about me. Ahhh, it makes my stomach hurt to think of all the nights I laid in the dark crying and thinking the ceiling is crushing me. Following God's will may not be easy, but my sweet Lord is worth it.
